Purple Prose of Kingman, Arizona

Our Song

(Sing to the tune of TheYellow Rose of Texas)

WE'RE THE PURPLE PROSE OF KINGMAN,
O this you can't deny
We wear our purple clothing,
red hats that catch the eye.
We're mostly over 50,
so you can clearly see
We eat real butter only
and drink our cup o' tea.
We love to sip our brandy
'n strut around the town
We thrive on the attention
and never get a frown.
We make the people happy
and here's our secret plan
Everything we do, . .
we do because WE CAN!

"Warning" by Jenny Joseph

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
