who didn't bring Lady Ravishing Ruby's wonderful newsletetter, the Purple

many new faces were there. Queen Joan and Sherie, Lady in Waiting

- The 2nd of the Last Tuesday Afternoon "T" parties was held today.
Beverly The Baroness of the Bazaar enjoyed welcoming 30 lovely ladies which
included four newcomers. We learned Laughter Excercises from Lady Jodie and
all about Queen Mum's workshops, how to earn more crown jewels and the plans
for the Mountain High picnic. This time we remembered our camera and photos
were taken in the wonderful new entry court of The Fountain.
April

- We celebrated
Red Hat Society Day with a lovely Open House
at Hastings - such fun to sit and chat and talk about THE book and to see
Gloria's scrapbook. Ladies, whoever started the rumor that SEC would be there

to autograph them, but real-ly!! Thank you Rick and Jan for providing the
location, the cookies and the coffee!

- Red Hat Society International Convention, Dallas,
Texas! WoW - did we have a Wun-der-ful time? You betcha - It was one Texas
sized round of How-deeee! Beverly, The Baroness of the Bazaar, Jo Ann,
Lady Jodie and Dodie, Lady of the Golf Course, represented our
chapter; you'll want to ask them all about the ladies they met, the things
they did, the Hats and clothes they saw! The Red and Pink hatters pictured
on these pages were all so nice, we asked each to come to our Tri State Tea
2 ! We will not be surprised if we see them in Laughlin!

of the Evening numbered 47 tonight! Dinner at the Fountain was enjoyed by
all and we were delighted to find little Easter Eggs on the tables - Thank
you Cameron! It was a wonderful evening, so many friends, both new and old
gathered for a lasagna dinner. The Empress of the Evening was attended by
her long time friend, Trish, who was visiting from her new home in Vero Beach,
Florida. Welcome to our new members tonight - be sure to look for your pictures
here!
April
3, 2004 -
- Have you
ever gone to school in the Rain? In Arizona? Well today eleven ladies (and
one Duke!) caravanned to school in California. (some of us followed the MapQuest
map - saw more of the desert than we planned to; others went on the paved
Route 66!) It wasn't raining when we met at the Powerhouse for our 9:00AM
departure - but by the time we reached the Goffs Schoolhouse on the Old Trails
Highway, west of Needles, we faced that wet stuff. But fear not - we all had
our umbrellas, excuse me, our Parasols! Take a look at the good time we had
- you'll be sorry if you missed this fun.
March 30, 2004 -
- We are expanding - I mean Growing - as we have started another monthly "T"
- Today is the first of the Tuesday Afternoon Teas - The Baroness of the Bazaar
(aka the Vice Queen) is the leader of this new regular event which will be
held on the last Tuesday afternoon of the month. Now, the Baroness was so
excited about her "first" event she forgot her camera - so we are
awaiting photos from Carol, Lady of the House, whichi will be scanned and
placed on this website as soon as they are available. Those attending included
several new members - 29 ladies enjoyed their "T" and cake while
listening with fascination to Queen Joan's escapades on her Hawaiian cruise.
Thank you for enjoying this Tuesday Afternoon Tea - it was a wonderful day!
March
17, 2004 -
- Top of the Afternoon to you! What a fine greeting we received from Cameron
when we asked "Who's the Most Irish today?" We heard that Kilt wearing
Cameron was born there, so of course he was presented with the Shamrocks.
44 ladies came in smiling and chatting - and we had guests, one from Canada,
two from Pahrump! Thanks for being there.
March
2, 2004 -
- A fine
evening for a Red Hat get together at The Fountain. We all enjoyed hearing
about the Arizona State Convention and lisiting to the shopping tales - oh
my - did we shop! And the good times were told in detail. Several ladies shared
their birthday with us and we all practiced our singing. Queen Mum says we
must be well versed in our songs by October or it's "to the dungeon"
... Arlene, Empress of the Eveing held the first ever Evening Money Pot raffle
and our winner was so surprised, she re-donated to the fund. Thanks for being
there - now enjoy the photos!
February
28, 2004 -
- The Arizona
State Convention - 1,885 ladies in Red Hats (and many PINK hats) attended this
one day affair organized by The Decadent Dames at the J W Marriott Resort in
Scottsdale. Of course our table was thrilled when our Queen Joan won a $100.00
gift certificate from Steinmart and we all want to help her shop. Ahhhh - the
sea of "our colors" in that room was awesome. Fourteen beautiful women
from the Purple Prose made this a special day and we all enjoyed meeting new
friends and greeting our "ole" friends that we met these past 16 months.
How would one even find an old friend in this gaggle of gigglers you ask? Why
standing in line in Ladies Room, or Shopping in the huge tent or table hopping
- a favorite activity of the Baroness and The Lady of the Golf Course! Just
take a Look at the pages of pictures we have for you.
We also want to thank all the ladies who let us take their picture! Enjoy the
-6- pages of photos.
February
18, 2004
- A celebration
of Mardi Gras started today's "T" with some pretty ladies strutting
to the beat of "When the Saints Go Marching In" and beads for all.
Pretty masks were worn and we all enjoyed the fun. The Purple Prose Patter
was well received. Many new ladies were welcomed by Queen Joan and birthdays
celebrated. Watch for the announcement of a second afternoon tea date - This
way there will be room at "Hatquarters" for all tea-sipping afternoon
ladies.
February
14, 2004
- Today is
VALENTINE'S DAY! What better way to celebrate
than to go to a romantic wedding with your friends?! A group of Purple Prose
went to Oatman, Arizona and witnessed an old wild west wedding. The Black
Mountain Boys were there - and pretty rowdy too - why they had to keep
close watch on our Red Hatting ladies! Thank Dori, Lady of the Golf Course
for your photos.
February 12, 2004
- The Vegas Vintage Vamps
charmed us with their Valentine Gala. You should have seen the ballroom at
the Gold Coast Casino in Las Vegas - Red and Purple Balloons, fantastic hat
box centerpieces, marvelous prizes and entertainment galore! . Queen Mom Donna
impressed us all with this lovely party and look at her hat! A special dance
number was performed and Donna not only designed the costumes, but sewed them
all - wow!
This evening was a culmination of two fun days for the adventurous Purple
Prose who spent one night at the Primm Valley Resort where we had adjoining
rooms and celebrated with a fun time dinner. Those of us that went onto Las
Vegas had a superb lunch with other Red Hatters at Nordstroms and then The
Baroness of the Bazaar and Lady of the Golf Course met Comedian and Artist
Jonathan Winters.
February
7, 2004
- Away we
went on our Big Blue River Bus to Scottsdale and The Red Hat State Picnic.
The trip south was great fun as the Pink Hatters put on a Birthday Party for
Stacy, Lady in Waiting with Gardenias. Of course we had to celebrate all the
birthday ladies and then we had a raffle - Winners either won a refund of
1/2 the bus fare or a Red Hat kind of prize. But then there was the Marquesa
of Enchantment who won the grand prize of the singing cats! During this delightful
time in bright sunshine we not only ate and enjoyed the entertainment, but
met new and old friends, rode the train and delighted in the carousel! On
the way home we experienced a "big city treat" and went to dinner
at TGI Fridays. Another Good Time by all and thanks to Judi of Bodacious
Babes for putting the event together and inviting her northern sisters!
February
3, 2004
- No sooner
had we recovered from a nice evening out on Monday when we gathered for our
monthly dinner at The Fountain for the Ladies of the Evening. Ahhh the Quiche
was only rivaled by the decadent chocolate cake that Barry baked. 39 ladies
enjoyed listening to our report on the Palm Springs affair, the Lobster Dinner
and the Radient Rouge Renegade's Tea. Because it was a rare cold and rainy
night several decorated their umbrellas and put on a Parade of Parasols -
take a look!
February
2 1004
- What a good
time we ladies had at the Tea presented by the Radiant Rouge Renagedes
in honor of Lady Lavender of Port Townsend, Washington. It was so nice to
see the head table with five - count 'em - five queens. Lady Lavender taught
us something about the need for napkins that we'll not soon forget. Thanks
Queen Peggy for making this evening possible.
January
25, 2004
- The
Lobster Dinner at the River Palms
this evening was very successful. If not already a member of the River Palm's
"The Players Club" all 40 attending became members so they could
enjoy this elegant bargain dinner. Although we exceeded our committment to
25 ladies in the private dining room, the staff kindly set up another table
in the "Loft" for us. Didn't we all look wunderful? Thanks,
Kindra, Lady of the Kitchen for the pictures as this photographer goofed
and left the camera home!
January
21, 2004
- Will you believe that 56 ladies attended "T" at The Fountain
today? It was so much fun and just getting to a seat proved that you had to
be friendly. Queen Joan welcomed all to their first "T" of 2004
along with all the newcomers and the birthday ladies who were dressed in their
Purple Hats. One of our very own members, a candidate for City Council, Holly,
Lady in Waiting of the Hilltop spoke of her plans. Excitement surrounded the
The Baroness of the Bazaar's announcement of a new Purple Prose program
called
The
Crown Jewels.
January
16, 2004
-
The first Blue River Tours bus ride
of the year was a trip to see the Fabulous
Palm Springs Follies. The historic Plaza Theatre was our destination -
it was completed in 1936, just in time to host the "star-studded"
gala opening of the film Camille, staring Greta Garbo. Well, today
it hosted Red Hat Society Stars from The Purple Prose of Kingman,
The Desert Roses of Fort Mohave, The Radiant Rouge Renegades also
of Kingman and The Happy Hatters from Bullhead City. This was a sensational
show and it's highly recomended by all of us who were there - take a look
at those smiling faces in the photos!
January
6, 2004
- The
Empress of the Evening started our new year events with a gathering of
ladies at The Fountain for a glass of wine, a croissant, super salad
bar and a yummy piece of cheesecake. So much for cutting out calories in 2004!
Gloria, Lady of Entertainment, distributed her very first Purple
Prose Patter ; watch this monthly newsletter
at the Dinners and "T"s to be well informed! Many birthdays were
celebrated and new and old friends were welcomed by The Empress as well as
The Queen and The Baroness...
