- The Queen did "IT" again by hostessing this now traditional end
of the year Queen's Holiday Party. The festivities started with Red
Hat Ladies and their Dukes entering the historic Power House in Kingman -
the largest facility in town. The building was transformed by over 100 guests
wearing Red Hats, Purple clothing, Pink Hats, Purple Hats, Neon colored hats,
great table covers, great food and great music! Certificates of Honor were
presented to those that went the extra mile this past year. Special Guests
from out of town were there, some even danced for us! Duke Roger lead "The
Saints" in a knockout rendition of this favorite tune and so much happened
that we all agreed "a great time was had by all". Take a look at
these pictures - don't you agree this was one FUN time had by all.?!?!
December 17, 2003
- What a wonderful winter day to enjoy each other's company. Tales were told
of meeting other Red Hatters in our travels, and the reactions and gifts we
receive; Candy canes awaited everyone; Birthdays were celebrated and a big
Thank You basket of bills was presented to the great staff of The Fountain.
We are just overwhelmed by their thoughtfulness and the extra ornaments that
Cameron made with red and
purple feathers inside the glass globes. Many very helpful members
stayed after the "T" and helped with a crafty project in preparation
of the Queen's Party which is fast approaching.
"Happy Holidays"
was voiced by all.
December 4, 2003
- A trip to Pahrump, Nevada, to join with three chapters at their Christmas
Party at the Willow Creek Country Club. A loveley afternoon with very gracious
ladies. Following the luncheon we were treated to a special showing at Scottie's
Dance Studio - are these ladies great, or what?!! Thank You!. The adventure
continued in Las Vegas that evening and some of the Purple Prose ladies accepted
an inviation from the Disney Studios to see a Sneak Preview of a new movie:
"The Calendar Girls"
- YOU won't want to miss this 'feel good' movie opening soon.
December 2, 2003
- 34 ladies were delighted with The Fountain's Duke Cameron who crafted
a special Christmas ornament for each of us (Red and Purple feathers were
nestled inside a glass ball which was painted in gold with "Merry Christmas
2003"). Following Dinner and the announcements about the upcoming events Arlene,
The Empress of the Evening, lead us in singing Happy Birthday to three purple-hatted
ladies. The Empress also greeted each with a small holiday decorated tin filled
with goodies and bearing a number on the lid. After dinner a drawing was held
for a gift which was won by new member, Barbara, Lady Moné. Hats of to Pink-Hatter
Holly, Lady-in-Waiting of the Hilltop, who announced her candidacy for City
Council!

- Can you
believe that 54 beautiful women enjoyed "T", Cheesecake. REAL SCONES,
Jam and Clotted Cream at The Fountain this afternoon? Special Guests from
The Red Hot and Purple Passionate Pahrumpians drove down to Kingman
to share Val's scrumptious home-made real gosh darned authentic English Scones
(click here for the reciipe) that
she and Queen Pat made for us and then we were entertained by The Dancin'
Steps. We also had another visitor who was presented with a Pink Hat and
we thank Bonnie for being today's photographer. Thank you all for being at
the "T" and sharing the joy and fun that we love!

- The evenings
are getting cooler in Kingman. Tonight two dozen + ladies enjoyed a wonderful
Beef Stew, the town's best salad bar and desert at The Fountain. Two
new ladies joined in the fun and all heard about the Tri State Tea. Excitement
is mounting as plans are being made for future events. Many signed up to attend
the Red Hatters State Picnic!
November

Lake Havasu's
Last Of The Red Hat Mamas Queen Marti extended an invitation to our Queen
Joan to attend a "High Tea" at Shagrues Saturday afternoon. Queen Joan was delighted
to accept along with several Purple Prose members.
October 15
- Afternoon
Tea saw the ladies enjoying their Tea and Cheesecake this month at The Fountain.
We celebrated Lady Karen of ATV's Birthday and the First Anniversary of the
Purple Prose. We've come a long way ladies! We also welcomed our two way out
of town members and enjoyed re-hashing the good and the quite mysterious events
at the Tri State Tea.
October
11 & 12
- The
Tri State Tea weekend started on Saturday morning in Laughlin with
a Brunch at the Colorado Belle arranged by Queen Judi, Bodacious Babes. Saturday
afternoon found the ladies shopping in Room 215 (I think the world was there!)
and Saturday night began with a bang up time at the River Walk Vamp and Strut
Parade arranged by Audacious, Rosie Red Hatters. We
loved Toochie's Kazoo band - next year everyone must have a kazoo! Many Red
Hatters left the Strut and Vamp and went to see the Rightous Bros at the Flamingo.
You must take a look at the pictures
on the Bodacious Babes site. The evening wrapped up with a great PJ party
hosted by Queen Wannabe Joanie from the Hemet Hotsy Totsys with games and
prizes!
Sunday came early in the morning when the Red Hatters met for breakfast at
the Colorado Belle and took the senic Red Hat River Cruse (thanks
again Queen Judi!). Barely
did they return from the cruise when it was time for the TRI STATE TEA - at
the River Palms ~ certainly an unforgetable event that will be talked about
for a long time. What fun to have all those door prizes donated by so many
and the Treasure Chest awards - topped off by the fantastic Dancin'
Steps of Pahrump! Ladies, you did a superb job - so light on your feet
and so lovely to see - and none of will dare to admit to ever being lonely
after Scottie's solo "Are you Lonely Tonight?" ~ Thanks Baroness
Von Tap, QM of the Red Hot and Purple Pasionate Parhumpians for being so generous
with your time!!

- The Ladies of
the Evening celebrate their first REDUATION ! Lady in Waiting of Smiles was
escorted by Queen Mum to the Court's bower to the sound of "trumpets"
and a melody written for the occasion by The Empress of the Evening. As Lady
of Smiles emerged from the bower of purple flowers she was presented with
her Red Hat and then was introduced by her mother, Lady of the Vista to all
the members.~ We also celebrated our Chapter's first birthday and the birthday
of Lady of the Chamber Maids. The two trophys were prominately displayed and
final preperations were made for the Tri State Tea. A great evening Arlene
and the dinner was scruptious! The little Jack-O-Lanterns on each table reminded
us it is fall even as we enjoy our 80° + days.

- The Andy Devine
Parade. WoW - You've never seen the likes of us at a Parade, and neither has
Kingman! We looked wunderful - in our three, count 'em, three floats.
In fact we were so very w-u-n-d-e-r-f-u-l that we won the First
Place Trophy in our class AND won the very best Sweepstakes
Trophy for well, Best of Show! Can you imagine how great we all felt
when we heard this announced as we arrived at the reviewing stand?
Is it true that our banner carriers,
Arlene, Dori and Kate did a courtsey to the dignataries at the reveiwing stand?
Following our Queen's lead the rest of us waved, lifted our Tea Cups and/or
blew kisses to all our subjects !!

- Ah, a day on
the road to and from Primm, Nevada. Our little gambling junket was one of
the most relaxing events we have arranged. Blue River Tours arrived for boarding
their luxury bus at 8:30AM on this Friday morning and 33 of us had a nice
drive through parts of Nevada and California to reach this gambling mecca
on the state line. We had a wonderful buffet and the only problem encountered
was missing our friends from Pahrump for lunch. Many shopped, many dropped
coins and all were happy as evidenced by these pictures. (please
note, captions omitted from photos at this time)

- It was just like
the first day back to school after summer vacation. It was so much fun to
be part of the Chatter and the Greetings of 43 ladies in Red and Purple plus
one Pink Hatter! We enjoyed the Quiche served with fruit salad, veggie sticks
and dip along with a delicious iced tea which helped make this another memorable
"T" at The Fountain. A "sweet" door prize was donated
by a local candy merchant. It was also a day to shop as Queen Mum found
the best Route 66 flashing pins for us to purchase and wear in the Andy Devine
Days Parade. Pam, Lady of Van Tellingen brought her cute Red Hat pins
and Lady Turquoise offered to make her little Red Hat dolls available
for all.
Lady Jodi happliy accepted Membership applications from those wanting a 'head
start' on October's dues. Preparations continued for the Andy Devine Days
Parade and our three (count' em 3) floats for the Parade - remember we will
be the "Mothers on the Road". The Excitement over the Tri
State Tea continues - after all the "T" will is less than 4
weeks away.

- Another wonderful
night for the Ladies of the Evening at The Fountain - 26 ladies all dressed
in their finery enjoyed a lovely supper and great conversation. All were treated
to stories of the latest escapades of our Queen and the computer at The Fountain
was running at full speed for those who do not know what we really look like
on the Web. Birthdays were celebrated with New Colors. Plans for the Andy
Devine Days Parade were discussed and new members were already joining our
chapter as old members signed up for renewals.
August
30th
-Six Ladies from
Kingman drove to Dolan Springs this hot day to Parade with our Red
Hat sisters. This is the annual Dolan Springs Day and the Parade was delightful
- our wonderful float won Second Place. When you look at the pictures you'll
see a most amazing Tug Float made by Ben, the husband of Doloan Spring's newest
member Phyllis, Lady of Turquoise. He had fun not only making this float,
but tooting the horn and ringing the bell - they knew we were there for miles
around. Fittingly Ben won a Jigsaw at the raffle and Grace, Lady of the Lighthouse,
won a gift certificate. Grace is the inspiration for all the ladies in Dolan
Springs and the one that invited us to attend the parade in "her"
town.
August 25th
- A small contingent of the Purple Prose descended on Las Vegas and met with
some of our Red Hat sisters from Parhump, Nevada, for lunch and a bit of Red
Hat shopping - wow - did we have a gooood time? You Betcha! Take a look at
who entertained us and be sure to ask Queem Mum if SHE had a good time?!!
August 16th
- The pictures tell of the lovely luncheon held at the Hualapai Mountain Lodge
which was arranged by Karen, Lady of the Tortoise Shell. Ahhhh - a beautiful
afternoon among the pines and a celebraton for Beverly, Lady of the Eighties.
Debbi, Princess of Merrymaking brought a birthday cake to add to the merryment!
July 16th
was a lot of fun for the Purple Prose as we had a "tattoo" party.
The temporary tattoos were a big hit and most of us joined in on the fun of
putting one in place somewhere on our bodies. Lots of fancy ankles, wrists
and chests sported the "tattoos" as we were all Laughing Out
Loud with each other. Great idea Queen Mum. Don't We Look Wunderful!
July 5
Some of the Queens Court attend the Prescott Fouth of July Parade. Our Sister
Chapters in Prescott graciously invited us to their "special" viewing
area where we cheered our Red Hat Sisters as they marched along. Then we shopped
(of course) and were welcomed at the Tea held at the cutest little shop in
Prescott - The Queens Cottage. We enjoyed sitting in the cool shade of the
trees and the green grass - what a treat!
The Purple Prose Ladies of the Evening met on July
1st
for salad &
sandwiches. The Fountain prepared a special summertime dessert for us after
dinner. Very good light treat! Congratulations to Lady-in-Waiting Sherie on
her recent marriage. Thanks for sharing your wedding photos with us Lady-in-Waiting
in the Wind!
Summertime is here and on June

we still had a real nice turnout and a pleasant afternoon.
The 4th Annual Yada Yada Parade was held in downtown Kingman on Saturday,
June 7
.
The Red Hat Society made a grand showing. Thanks to all Chapter Ladies and
Out-of-Towners who made this event a real success. Many thanks to Kathy, Lady
in Waiting Lenscap of Nikon; Pat, of Parnassian; Jan, Countess of Acquisition
and Beverly, Baroness of the Bazaar for the photos shown here.
Our Yada Yada Meet-'n-Greet the Out-of-Towners was a smashing success at
the American Legion Hall downtown on June
6
. During the no-host
cocktail party we had the opportunity to visit with guests from all over the
area, including Mesa, Long Beach, Prescott Valley, Las Vegas, Apache Junction
and Prescott to name a few. Many thanks to the Radiant Rouge Renegades for
helping the Purple Prose host this event. A belly dance exhibit was performed
by our own Lady Molly and during the buffet dinner we had classic country
music performed by the local band YesterYear.
The Purple Prose Ladies of the Evening group on
June 3
was attended
by 32 beautiful ladies. Summer is here and the weather is warming up but our
ladies are ready for Lots of Fun.
Our Garden "T" Party was held on May
21st
at the Baja Connection
on Beale Street. Parasols were out in full force to provide shade for our
lovely Ladies in their Red & Purple (& Pink & Lavender). Iced
tea & scrumptuous cheesecake was catered for the event by the Fountain.
A pleasant afternoon was had by all.
Saturday, May 17th
we met at Haulapai Downs on the Mohave County Fairgrounds for a Day at the
Races. A few of our Ladies even won a buck or two betting on their favorite
horses. Thank you Lady Dorian for suggesting this outing for us all and arranging
for passes!
Tuesday May 6th
was the 2nd meeting of the Purple Prose Ladies
of the Evening. Our dinner meeting at the Fountain numbered
42. What a great turnout. Several of our daytime ladies joined us. What a
great way to get to know each other!

was International Red Hay Day. We celebrated with lunch at the Elks Club.
Check out the announcement in the Daily Miner. Everyone had Lots of Fun!
Hafla, our Mediterranean Night on April
23rd
was a real success! Basic Belly dance movements were taught by Lady-in-Waiting
Liz & her instructor Shelly. Finger foods were prepared by several members
of the group & served to all the ladies & guests in attendance. Many
thanks to the Kingman Ranch Mobile Home Park for the use of their recreation
facility.
April 1 was the inaugural meeting for our Ladies
of the Evening branch of the Purple Prose. The Court
and our Queen Mum enthusiastically welcome all the ladies that have joined
the Purple Prose of the Evening group. The inaugural meeting was presided
over by Queen Mum Joan with the help of the founding Charter members. The
Queen introduced her court (the founding Charter Members) and "installed"
the new leader of the Evening chapter, Arlene, Empress of the Evening. Most
wore beautiful Red Hats to their first meeting, along with several adorable
Pink Hat wearers. The ladies selected their titles, had lots of laughs and
a grand time was had by all. The next Evening group will be meeting at the
Elks Club on May 6th. Please contact Arlene,
Empress of the Evening as reservations are a must! We
look forward to lots more Laughing Out Loud with you. Talk about a beautiful
hat! Check out the family treasure worn
by Lou, Lady Poop Poop a Doo. Grandmother's feather hat. Very spectacular!
